Open House January 14 At Grand Traverse Pavilions; View The Wellness Center & The Rehab Center

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - Grand Traverse Pavilions will host an open house for both its Wellness Center and Rehab Center on Tuesday, January 14, from 4-8 pm.

The open house is designed to showcase two uniquely designed, state-of-the-art facilities
within the award-winning senior community. Seventeen professional therapists will be on hand to answer questions about short-tem rehabilitation as well as aquatic, physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Both the Poplar and Beech Gyms along with their respective technologically-advanced equipment will be available for viewing. Simulated living spaces will be openalong with the one-of-a-kind, 92-degree therapy pool.

Opened in 2002, The Wellness Center offers a broad range of multi-aged programs and services for adults and children. Aquatic health and fitness classes, outpatient therapy, water readiness and swim lessons for children are among the most utilized offerings of the center.

The Wellness Center staff specializes in training for older adults. The team includes physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, speech-language pathologists, and aqua therapists.

Several years ago, The Wellness Center was enhanced by the addition of The Rehab Center. The Rehab Center offers short-term rehabilitation to individuals, who have been hospitalized or who have chosen elective surgery to repair hips, knees, back, or shoulders. Recovery in The Rehab Center is short and returns the patient to home.

Designed with comfort in mind, The Rehab Center features 21 semi-private and private accommodations, an easy- to-access entrance and passage directly to a gym, the center of rehabilitation. Every suite has a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi Internet access,  cable and telephone service. There is also a salon for men and women.

The addition of The Rehab Center increased the census of the nursing facility beds to 240 and established The Pavilions as the largest county-owned facility in Michigan. The average stay for short-term rehab is about 28 days. In some instances, when recovery is faster, the stay may be as short as a week or several months.

Grand Traverse Pavilions is locally-owned by Grand Traverse County and locally-governed by Grand Traverse Department of Human Services Board. With more than a half-century reputation for quality care and services, The Pavilions is recognized as model multi-aged continuum of care in Michigan. Grand Traverse Pavilions is located in Traverse City on historic Grand Traverse Commons.
