October is Physical Therapy Month!

According to the Department of Health and Human Services Facts & Statistics on physical activity, more than 80% of American adults do not get enough physical activity despite the proven benefits, such as a reduced risk of some cancers and chronic diseases, as well as improved bone health, cognitive function, weight control, and quality of life. As a result, half of adults — 117 million people — have one or more chronic diseases. The good news is that regular physical activity can help prevent and improve many chronic conditions. Barriers to movement and physical activity can be small or large, real or perceived. Whatever barriers may be preventing you from enjoying the many important health benefits of physical activity, physical therapists will partner with you to create a safe and effective program to get you moving. (APTA website 2021).

The Grand Traverse Pavilions Wellness Center physical therapists can help you whether you are having a short term inpatient stay after surgery or an illness, or you are living at home and would benefit from outpatient therapy to reduce/eliminate pain, start a safe exercise program, improve your balance, or reach your highest level of function.

Our therapy is different. If you are trying chiropractic care or have tried therapy in the past without long term success, we want to see you!  You will have 1 on 1 treatment sessions with a therapist, not a technician.  The therapists have extensive continuing education in a variety of advanced techniques including manual therapy, myofascial release with/without instruments, aquatic therapy, vestibular/dizziness therapy, exercise prescription for seniors etc. The list goes on and on!

In order to start physical therapy or if you have any questions about how we can help you, please call 231-932-3172.  Start your path to Wellness today!
