April is Occupational Therapy Month!

Did you know that Occupational Therapy is one of the most underutilized benefits that people have either through a private insurance carrier or through Medicare?  Many people do not realize the many ways that they can benefit from Occupational Therapy!

What can Occupational Therapy do for me?

Provide education and recommendations to maximize you or a loved one’s ability to remain independent at home including home modifications.

Educate in adaptive equipment for dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, joint protection due to arthritis, and a wide variety of hobby and sport adaptations.

Assess and treat painful conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand including splinting.

Assess and treat functional deficits following a stroke or diagnosis of other neurological impairments including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord injury.

Educate and provide training and recommendations for those with low vision.

The list goes on and on!

Gardening adaptations are just one of the ways that Occupational Therapists can help you get back to living again!

The OTs at Grand Traverse Pavilions use current concepts in rehabilitation and state of the art equipment to help you get back to living, working, and enjoying all that beautiful northern Michigan has to offer!

Just ask your Doctor for a referral for Occupational Therapy and call 231-932-3172 to set up an appointment.

Grand Traverse Pavilions is proud to be recognized by the U.S. News as a High Performing facility in both the Long-Term Care and Short-Term Rehabilitation categories.

Short-Term Care

The quality of care provided at the more than 15,000 U.S. nursing homes, also sometimes called skilled nursing facilities, varies widely. Grand Traverse Pavilions is among the top 5% of nursing home evaluated and one of only 708 facilities nationwide recognized for dual-facility designation. U.S. News wants to help families research facilities and find a nursing home that excels in the type of care they need. The U.S. New Best Nursing Homes ratings offer individuals and families a starting point in their search for a nursing home, whether they are in need of short-term rehabilitation or long-term care.
