Description of role:

• Grand Traverse Pavilions is seeking a motivated, Full-time Child Care Assistant to join our team.

• The starting wage for this position is $18.90/hour 

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Tasks:

• Work cooperatively and respectfully to ensure smooth operation of the Child Care Center.

• Assist with the general operations of the Child Care Center to include, but not limited to, opening and closing of the Center as assigned.

• Plan and implement individualized, play-based, developmentally appropriate activities for an assigned group that are balanced within child developmental principles.  To include but not limited to indoor and outdoor play; activities coordinated to theme of the week within program; activities that challenge children’s physical and cognitive abilities, encourage children to learn and explore and foster self-esteem.

• Supervise daily activities of children to include but not limited to meals, naps, toileting, play and developmental programming.

• Maintain program equipment and supplies in an orderly, clean fashion.  This includes cleaning toys, equipment, tables, etc. suitable to meet Grand Traverse Pavilions standards.

• Report any concerns regarding a child(ren) to the Child Care Facilitator in a timely manner.

• Responsible for the health, welfare and safety of children in designated group.

• Assist with dressing and changing diapers as necessary.

• Escort and assist all children to intergenerational planned activities and during any other room changes.

• Complete paperwork related to children’s progress, attendance, behavior, etc. as required.

• Substitute for other staff positions in Child Care as requested in order to meet the immediate needs of the Center.
